  • Our own engineering tradition is evident from the ‘Dr. Ing. ’ in our company name. Also from our racing victories, now totalling more than 30,000. Not only more feats of heroism, but responsibility for the future of the sports car and for the environment. Then there is the 911’s reputation as an iconic sports car. However, this reputation means nothing unless we continue to breathe new life into old ideas. For us, heritage and future are inseparably linked. Of course, we could simply have made a capable sports car, but this wouldn’t have been a Porsche, and certainly not a 911.
Our identity is the 911 for rent in Portugal and Europe. This is also, and especially, true in the 21st century. Instantly recognisable and originally engineered for the racetrack, it continues to stir the emotions today, just as it did in 1963.
Yet, is that enough to move forward? Above all, is it enough for you? Don’t we need to break the stranglehold of tradition once in a while before it one day stifles innovation altogether? We believe that the answer is ‘yes’. This is our approach to the preservation of tradition. It is precisely how we respond to the passion for the sports car rental and do justice to the 911 legend – and always with tomorrow in mind.
We have achieved this with a future-oriented design, with engines that consume comparatively little but deliver a considerable amount of power, with efficiency-enhancing technologies such as auto start/stop, thermal management and electrical system recuperation, with intelligent lightweight construction, with an innovative hood concept on the Cabriolet models, with Porsche Traction Management (PTM) active all-wheel drive, and with an interior that combines sophisticated ergonomics and sporty comfort.
All of that is what defines us. In short, it is the way in which we combine tradition and innovation, performance and everyday practicality, form and function. For us, these are not contradictions, but our motivation. We are referring to Intelligent Performance.
Our identity can be accurately described by many words. And three digits.
    The 911. Porsche Identity.

Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, usually shortened to Porsche AG , is a German automobile manufacturer specializing in high-performance sports cars, supercars, hypercars, and lately SUVs and sedans. Porsche AG is headquartered in Stuttgart, and is owned by Volkswagen AG. The current Porsche models include the 911, Boxster, Cayman, Panamera, Cayenne, Macan, and the 918.

Ferdinand Porsche founded the company called "Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche GmbH" in 1931, with main offices at Kronenstraße 24 in the centre of Stuttgart. Initially, the company offered motor vehicle development work and consulting,[4] but did not build any cars under its own name. One of the first assignments the new company received was from the German government to design a car for the people, that is a "Volkswagen". This resulted in the Volkswagen Beetle, one of the most successful car designs of all time. The Porsche 64 was developed in 1939 using many components from the Beetle.

Porsche's tank prototype, the "Porsche Tiger", that lost to Henschel & Son's Tiger I.

Panzerjäger Tiger, after the loss of the contract to the Tiger I Porsche recycled his design into a tank destroyer.
During World War II, Volkswagen production turned to the military version of the Volkswagen Beetle, the Kübelwagen, 52,000 produced, and Schwimmwagen,[6] 15,584 produced. Porsche produced several designs for heavy tanks during the war, losing out to Henschel & Son in both contracts that ultimately led to the Tiger I and the Tiger II. However, not all this work was wasted, as the chassis Porsche designed for the Tiger I was used as the base for the Elefant tank destroyer. Porsche also developed the Maus super-heavy tank in the closing stages of the war, producing two prototypes.

At the end of World War II in 1945, the Volkswagen factory at KdF-Stadt fell to the British. Ferdinand lost his position as Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen, and Ivan Hirst, a British Army Major, was put in charge of the factory. (In Wolfsburg, the Volkswagen company magazine dubbed him "The British Major who saved Volkswagen." On 15 December of that year, Ferdinand was arrested for war crimes, but not tried. During his 20-month imprisonment, Ferdinand Porsche's son, Ferry Porsche, decided to build his own car, because he could not find an existing one that he wanted to buy. He also had to steer the company through some of its most difficult days until his father's release in August 1947. The first models of what was to become the 356 were built in a small sawmill in Gmünd, Austria. The prototype car was shown to German auto dealers, and when pre-orders reached a set threshold, production (with Aluminium body) was begun by Porsche Konstruktionen GesmbH founded by Ferry and Louise. Many regard the 356 as the first Porsche simply because it was the first model sold by the fledgling company along with Porsche 360. After the production of 356 was taken over by the father's Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche GmbH in Stuttgart in 1950, Porsche commissioned a Zuffenhausen-based company, Reutter Karosserie, which had previously collaborated with the firm on Volkswagen Beetle prototypes, to produce the 356's steel body. In 1952, Porsche constructed an assembly plant (Werk 2) across the street from Reutter Karosserie; the main road in front of Werk 1, the oldest Porsche building, is now known as Porschestrasse. The 356 was road certified in 1948.

  • Porsche 911 GT3

As a rule, this feature concentrates on cars that are, at worst, somewhat affordable for most readers. But rules are meant to be broken and every now and then it’s impossible to resist the temptation to write about a machine few can afford.

A machine that, if you live outside Toronto, Calgary or Vancouver, has a price tag the size of the mortgage on your house.

That car is the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, revealed last week at the Geneva Motor Show. Porsche calls it “the definitive track car for everyday use.”

Porsche rental says the 911 GT3 RS “blurs the boundary between road-going sports cars and race cars. It is equipped with the maximum degree of motorsport technology currently possible in a street-legal 911.” Of such words are dreams – or pure lust – created.

Powering the new 911 GT3 RS is a 4.0L flat 6 engine that is mated to a PDK transmission and generates 500 hp and 339 lb.-ft. of torque. Porsche claims 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.3 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 10.9 seconds. I see no reason to doubt this because the new car now holds the record for the fastest lap – 7 minutes, 20 seconds – at Nurburgring’s 22.5-km north loop.

As well as possessing the largest naturally aspirated engine in the 911 lineup, the GT3 RS features, as standard equipment, the widest tires – 20-inch diameter front, 21-inch diameter rear – of any 911 model. This rubber gives it better turn-in characteristics, higher cornering speeds and greater roll stability.
